Medical school has definitely had some ups and downs. I will admit that last year, as a first year, I felt quite overwhelmed, especially during first semester. I had been out of school for a while and being thrown into a new, unfamiliar environment combined with the amount of work had to do made for a tough fall. Luckily, I (sort of) got the hang of it, but as I looked onto what second year would bring, I was sort of dreading it. The workload really ramps up during second year, especially spring semester, but even in the fall, it seems like the tests are never ending. The worst, though, was the Monday final. What am I talking about? Well, every other class was done on the Friday before Christmas, but for whatever reason, our class had our last final on Monday–meaning we lost a whole weekend of our Christmas break. I know these things aren’t that big of a deal, considering that most working people don’t get 2 weeks off at all, but it was a bummer , especially since it was our third final in a row.
