Who posts a potential Memorial Day dessert the day of Memorial Day? This girl! This recipe is for all my spirit animals who are procrastinators and never plan, but still want to bring something to a party. But even though you’re using all store bought items and simply freezing things, the results are still pretty impressive.
It’s springtime now and that means it’s shower season–baby and bridal. Seriously, my Facebook feed is blowing up with pink tulle flowers and mason jars. Maybe you’re in charge of a shower or throwing a birthday party and are started browsing on Pinterest, which will inevitably lead to severe anxiety attacks. Trust me, I know.
We live in New York, which could be considered the city of brunch. So why would you need a pancake recipe when you can just go out to one of the hundreds of places? Well the dark side of brunch is the fact that you have to battle everyone else in the city who has the same idea. So that’s where pancakes you can make at home come in handy.
These savory rolls are so simple and genius, I’m a little mad that I didn’t think of the recipe myself. Besides being delicious, they are easy and quick, which makes it the ideal weeknight meal. Fresh pizza dough is such a great thing to have on hand. You can simply make yourself a homemade pizza or freeze it for a rainy day. If I’m going to defrost the dough, I’ll either place in the fridge the night before, or put it on the counter the day of.
One of the places in New York I was dying to try after we had moved here was Russ and Daughters. I was following a couple of New York based blogs that were always referring to it and then the Louie episode really pushed me over the edge. So we finally went and it really lived up to the dream. Everything was amazing from the potato pancakes to the babka and smoked salmon.
Who doesn’t love breakfast? Truthfully, teenage me was ‘not a breakfast person.’ I always would wake up and be all “I so can’t eat in the morning mom–it makes me feel sick.” Really I think I just didn’t want to wake up 20 minutes earlier in order to have enough time to actually eat. Well, I’m not sure who has the last laugh, but now I wake up starving, so no matter what time I have to leave for work, I’m giving myself time for breakfast.
When I first started cooking, a quick meal that I used to love to make was a quick quesadilla. I used to take refried beans and grated cheese and heat it up in a pan. I used to serve it with salsa and it all resulted in a filling dinner in 15 minutes. While it’s fast and delicious, I feel like sometimes it needs something more.
