Browned Butter Vanilla Pancakes

We live in New York, which could be considered the city of brunch. So why would you need a pancake recipe when you can just go out to one of the hundreds of places? Well the dark side of brunch is the fact that you have to battle everyone else in the city who has the same idea. So that’s where pancakes you can make at home come in handy.

Broccoli Mushroom Cheddar Rolls

These savory rolls are so simple and genius, I’m a little mad that I didn’t think of the recipe myself. Besides being delicious, they are easy and quick, which makes it the ideal weeknight meal. Fresh pizza dough is such a great thing to have on hand. You can simply make yourself a homemade pizza or freeze it for a rainy day. If I’m going to defrost the dough, I’ll either place in the fridge the night before, or put it on the counter the day of.

One of the places in New York I was dying to try after we had moved here was Russ and Daughters. I was following a couple of New York based blogs that were always referring to it and then the Louie episode really pushed me over the edge. So we finally went and it really lived up to the dream. Everything was amazing from the potato pancakes to the babka and smoked salmon.

Stuffed Shells with Spinach and Mushrooms

Well it’s winter, so let’s get the comfort food going. Or more accurately there are some days that feel like winter and several days that are more like spring. Even with the unseasonably warm weather, the bare trees and gray days make me want to eat something comforting and hearty.

Baked Oatmeal with Bananas and Walnuts

Who doesn’t love breakfast? Truthfully, teenage me was ‘not a breakfast person.’ I always would wake up and be all “I so can’t eat in the morning mom–it makes me feel sick.” Really I think I just didn’t want to wake up 20 minutes earlier in order to have enough time to actually eat. Well, I’m not sure who has the last laugh, but now I wake up starving, so no matter what time I have to leave for work, I’m giving myself time for breakfast.

Charred Cauliflower Quesadillas

When I first started cooking, a quick meal that I used to love to make was a quick quesadilla. I used to take refried beans and grated cheese and heat it up in a pan. I used to serve it with salsa and it all resulted in a filling dinner in 15 minutes. While it’s fast and delicious, I feel like sometimes it needs something more.

Fig, Ricotta and Pesto Flatbread with Arugula

Fig Arugula Flatbread 003I’ve become obsessed with ricotta as of late. I found this fresh ricotta at Whole Foods that I’ve been slathering on toast in the morning, along with some of Mike’s Hot Honey. I’ll give you a minute while you follow that link and then purchase some of this honey. It’s amazing.

I’m always the first one to offer to bring something to a party. In my head, I go through all the recipes I’ve been meaning to try and decide that someone else’s party would be the prime time to try those out. Of course I then forget about it, don’t really plan anything out and have a small panic attack on the day of whatever party I’m attending and end up buying something at Trader Joe’s {not that there’s anything wrong with that!}
