I’m not even sure how to describe this creation. Well, the title is probably long enough to help you out, but take three brownies, sandwich frosting between them and the cover the top in toffee bars. Browned Butter Brownies
I feel like browned butter is a really hot ingredient. It’s in everything these days, from cakes, cookies, to being brushed onto cinnamon bread. I really love the process of making it–all of a sudden the butter turns a golden brown and smells so good. I’ll be honest though, with most things that I’ve gone through the trouble of browning butter, I’ve never really tasted the extra flavor. I figured that maybe I was just making dishes that were too strong to really appreciate the browned butter or that maybe my palate just wasn’t sophisticated enough. read more »
Apparently Marshmallows ARE Flammable
You know when you read directions to something and it states something pretty obvious and yet you let it happen anyway? Well yea, that happened to me with this recipe. I was going to a going away barbecue (for someone that has already returned at the time of this writing) and decided to bring a baked good (of course). I had seen this recipe for Rocky Road Brownies on Joy the Baker and thought that brownies would be a good thing for a bbq with less effort on my part. It was also the time when it was about a million degrees and pure humidity and the appeal of just dumping together a batter, sticking it in the oven and then running away from the kitchen was doubly appealing.

I live with a bonafide chocolate snob. Rabi constantly needs to find the next level in chocolate awesomeness and usually poo-poos the people’s chocolate, such as Hershey’s. As you have probably realized, I’m a baker and usually when left up to Rabi, I need to make something chocolately. I’m not sure where I first saw this recipe mentioned, but a couple of blogs I read have mentioned Hershey’s recipes from their website. I was a bit hesitant to try something from Hershey’s as Rabi will sit and explain to you why he doesn’t like this type of chocolate. I won’t give anything away as I wouldn’t want to steal his thunder, but needless to say he’s not a Hershey’s fan.
